Commercial

Editing the commercial was definitely the hardest assignment we had all semester. I attempted to use audacity but this program was simply too confusing for me. I have some experience you adobe audition for my broadcasting class however this program is not downloaded on my personal computer and I did not want to purchase it because it is quite expensive. I have also never used GarageBand so I didn’t feel comfortable with it. So, I looked to Google to find a similar program to Adobe Audition for free. That is one of the many tricks I have learned from this class, in this day and age if you look hard there is always a free alternative online. I found the program WavePad. It wasn’t exactly similar to Adobe Audition but it was easy for me to figure out. In my broadcasting class, we rarely played with audio levels so this was completely new to me. All the fades aren’t completely perfect I made an attempt! I think with more practice I could become better with audio editing I just have to become more familiar with the software. Another problem I faced was actually recording the commercial, I had a lot of trouble with this in my broadcasting class as well. I am someone who talks extremely fast and has trouble slowing down, which is not a good quality for a broadcaster. I constantly trip over my words because my mind and mouth are moving a mile a minute. I tried to talk slowly and pronounce everything clearly but when doing this I have many awkward poses. I tried several times to find a balance between speed talking and talking in slow motion but it was extremely difficult. To find music for my commercial I searched free music with no copyright on youtube. I decided the background music should be relaxing so listeners can really listen to my message. I also came to the decision that my intro and outro should be fun dancing music because I think the content on my blog is fun and light-hearted. This assignment was different from the rest and even though it was challenging it was a fun experience.

POWERPUFF YOURSELF

I loved the powerpuff girls growing up and really got a kick out of this assignment! I had no idea websites like these exsist but I loved making myself into a powerpuff character. I feel as though my character is really accurate. I really do love animals and love nothing more than a lazy day with my dog. Not to mention my powerpuff character’s cute outfit. I will admit I spent more time than I would like to admit trying all the outfit choices on my avitar. The fur coat, skirt, and boots I choose I think is the trendiest outfit you will ever see a powerpuff girl in. This assignment was filled with nostalgia and brought me back to my childhood! I tried to make the facial features as similar to my real ones as possible, but I just had to cave and give myself the cute heart eyes. I think that the target audience of my blog would also like to powerpuff themselves because my target audience is someone who is my age. I know you are thinking we are too old to be doing something so childish, but powerpuff girls was very popular when we were younger and people love being reminded of their childhood!

READY, MATCHING SET, GO

Matching sets have been around forever. From active wear to party wear we have seen celebs rocking this trend. They are simplistic yet it looks like you have your life together, I mean your whole entire fit goes together perfectly. There is almost no styling involved and you still look easy for the summer. Matching sets are perfect for the summer because they are easy and effortless while being super cute.

ALL THE PRINTS

Animal skin is back! We have seen animal prints be a huge trend in the past, however, in recent years the prints have faded to the background as other trends got their shine. This year we have seen ALL animal prints step back into the spotlight. All prints from cheetah to snakeskin to zebra are a HUGE trend right now.

These are just some of the many designers who have incorporated Cheetah print into their runway looks.

EYE CATCHING NEON

For spring we have seen celebrities rocking neon colors. Wearing neon colored clothing automatically takes your outfit up a notch and makes it look more trendy. I predict this trend will continue to grow for the summer months. Nothing pairs better with neon than a good tan.

Here we see Haily Baldwin making the basic street style more trendy by wearing it in a lime neon green.

Meme post

Every year I watch all the award shows simply to see what the stars are wearing. For people who are interested in fashion this is red carpet season not award show season. I watch the pre-show red carpet for every single show. As I am watching and deciding which looks I like best I can’t help but to fantasize about how one day I want to walk down the carpet myself. However, for a girl who cannot sing or act this seems like a far fetched dream. This is why I appreciate the Fiji girl meme so much. Fiji girl was hired to only hold Fiji water on the carpet and offer it to people as they walked by. Fiji girl had bigger plans. She managed to jump into the background of tons of stars shots and photo bomb them. This gave me hope that if I get creative I actually may be able to be pictured on the carpet one day!

From this thousand of other memes were created that I usually find relatable to my life because if given the opportunity I would probably do what Fiji water girl did.

Screen Casting

https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cqebcf0kwZ

I personally found screencasting very difficult. I had tremendous difficulty figuring out how to include the screencast on my website. In fact, I am not entirely I have found the solution. I also do not think this screencasting post fits in with my other posts. I am talking about my favorite fashion blogs and its features but my other posts talk about trends, not technology. I dreaded doing this post because I did not find it relevant for my blog and also find my own voice cringey. However, I do see the importance of this assignment. If you are reviewing a website or video game I could see how doing a voice over of your screen is necessary. This could also help if you were giving tutorials on how to use certain features. I just do not think this is something my targeted audience would like to see. While it was not my favorite assignment I do think it is important knowledge. With all these assignments so far it is news to me that these free services exist and actually works. People pay hundreds in monthly subscriptions for these software/services. I think it will be useful later in the future to be aware that free options are out there. While I personally have never used another screen recording service I found this one extremely easy to navigate. It was word press is where I had the most difficult because the file I had saved from screencast-omatic was “unsafe” for the site, and there is no other clear way to insert videos on to your site. I am not completely sure if this was a screencast-omatic issue or a WordPress based issue. I did find it easy to talk about my favorite fashion blog for 3-5 minutes and actually went over time. I do not like hearing my own voice but I could understand how this gives a personal touch to discussions on blogs. It was not my favorite assignment but I do see the positives and negatives of screen recording.

Image Editing

I had a vision for my blog, so I knew before creating my image what I wanted the whole look of the site to be. My goal was to create something edgy yet simple. When looking for the images that were a part of the creative commons it was hard to find something that fit into the design I had been picturing. This was only challenging because the options were narrowed down because of copyright laws. It was not difficult for me to pair two photos together, in fact this aspect came naturally to me. Once I had found them the rest was easy because I had taken a class before that taught us how to use photoshop.I am a visual person, so I knew exactly what I wanted to make. Envisioning the content I wanted to put  on my blog definitely came naturally. However, I did find the dimensions of the header to be a more narrow space then I am used to working with, so I had to adjust to that. There were slight variations in Pixlrs setup but for the most it was exactly the same as Adobe photoshop. I was not aware that Pixlr existed, Pixlr is a great free service that is extremely similar to photoshop. Now that I have access to this free photoshop I will definitely be using it more on my website. For the future of this class I am now more experienced in working with smaller canvases which will be beneficial since I have to work with the predetermined dimensions of my theme. In everyday life almost everywhere we look our view is filled with logos. After using Pixlr and having experience creating our own form of a logo we now know the work that goes into this. I think this gives us a great appreciation of graphic designers hard work and we will no longer take this images for granted.

THE RETURN OF SCRUNCHIES

Scrunchies were once all the rage. They were seen a lot in the 90s. This trend then faded. For a while, people had switched over to thin hair ties that could barely be seen on your wrist or in your hair. People, especially college women, have recently brought back scrunchies because I think we realized we were missing an opportunity to accessories.

Scrunchies make every up do more fun.
